Accelerating Breakthroughs Through Strategic Cold Storage Design: Uniting Operations, Asset Management, & Facilities Expertise

Reimagine Cold Storage as Strategic Research Infrastructure

  • Learn how leading research organizations are moving beyond traditional “freezer farms” to build scalable, resilient, and sustainable storage environments that support scientific growth, operational excellence, and long-term facility planning.

Optimize Space, Assets, & Operations

  • Discover practical strategies for improving storage utilization, increasing inventory visibility, reducing operational risk, and reclaiming valuable laboratory space through modern sample management practices and digital workflows.

See Innovation in Action

  • Explore how AI-enabled sample registration, repository operations, and automated cold storage systems work together to improve efficiency, sustainability, and sample stewardship during an exclusive tour of Azenta’s Billerica biorepository facility.

What If Half Your Cold Storage Isn’t Creating Value? Transforming Hidden Costs into Research Capacity
12:20 pm
  • Expose the hidden facility impact of cold storage: learn how fragmented inventories, underutilized equipment, and limited visibility contribute to unnecessary space, energy, maintenance, and operating costs across the research environment
  • Use data to right-size the cold storage footprint: explore how facility assessments, asset inventories, utilization data, and inventory rationalization can inform consolidation decisions, reduce freezer demand, and reclaim valuable space for science
  • Build an infrastructure strategy that scales with research: see how improved tracking, shared resource models, automated high-density storage, and intentional placement of materials across the lab, centralized facilities, and off-site repositories can support long-term capacity, resiliency, and sustainability goals
